GROUP 3
WRITTEN MINI CRITIQUES
This group name refers to manuscripts that receive only a mini-critique from our faculty author or adjunct faculty author (on five manuscript pages, plus optional one-page story summary, outline or synopsis).
DESCRIPTION
Group 3 are writers about whom at least one of the following is true:
-
The individual hasn’t polished more than the first five pages of a novel (perhaps a new story), but has a story summary, outline or synopsis—or questions about developing one.
-
In terms of genre and/or craft, the manuscript doesn’t match our workshop’s Group 1 or 2 requirements.
-
The writer has registered too late to enroll in Group 1 or 2, but would like a brief critique by our faculty or adjunct author.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Before the workshop, enrollees critique at least four Group manuscripts (each 10 to 15 manuscript pages, plus up to 450-word synopsis) to prepare for masterclass discussion. These manuscripts are available for Groups 2-4 in our e-anthology.
PERKS
- Although your Group 3 mini-critique isn’t face-to-face, we provide opportunities for you to meet our presenters in person—for example, where possible, you’ll be offered a place-card setting at one meal near your faculty of choice.
