LIZ KOSSNAR

Senior Editor

Little, Brown & Company

Liz Kossnar, Senior Editor, Little Brown & Co.Liz Kossnar joined Little, Brown Books for Young Readers (LBYR) in early 2020. She acquires picture book, middle grade, YA, graphic novels, fiction and non-fiction. Previously, she was an editor at Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, where she worked on projects such as Stuart Gibbs’ New York Times bestselling series, such a Spy School, and Whitney Gardner’s graphic novels, such as Fake Blood. At LBYR, she’s edited New York Times bestselling Strong Mama.

Liz also acquired Sally Engelfried's debut novel, Learning to Fall  (release date: 9/6/22), in which twelve-year-old Daphne reconciles with her father, who left her stranded three years ago, and learns forgiveness one fall at a time. The author attended our workshop in its early days. We're happy to see her recent success, and the coincidental connection with our latest faculty member.

Liz says, “I love learning when I’m reading, especially when that knowledge comes from an unexpected place. For novels, I connect best with those that have a foot in the contemporary space or at least feel contemporary in a fantastical or futuristic setting... [books that] hold some universal Truth to explore—even in something funny or experimental. Lately, I’ve been on the hunt for middle-grade mysteries and action series—especially involving spies or nefarious characters."

Her Manuscript Wish List at various times has also included historical, family, sci fi, fantasy, horror, speculative, funny, and diverse/POC fiction. She is “a lover of music, wine, and the obscure.”
