POSTS
TIPS: Posting is the primary purpose of bulletin boards. There are two main types of posts: new topic and reply. Always finish these steps (and later edits) by clicking “Submit,” or your additions will not appear.
A. TO READ AND/OR CREATE A POST
- Click Board Index. Click on the forum you’re interested in, then select a subforum and topic.
- To post text, click one of two icons in the upper left page: New Topic (to create a new question or comment), or Post Reply (to respond to an existing topic).
- Type your text in the large Message Box.
- If your post is the first for a new topic, fill in the subject line (create a title).
- If you are posting a reply, limit your response to the topic at hand.
- Address one topic or question per post, so the subject is easy to identify and respond to.
- If your question requires an administrative response, look for one within 24 hours of posting.
Optional:
- To create a Poll Question for users, scroll down in the new topic.
- To attach a file or photo, click here for instructions.
- Scroll down and click Preview, to possibly edit the post. When you approve of the post, click Submit to finalize it. • If you’ve started a New Topic, your post will appear as the first displayed in that forum. Then other users (and you) may reply to your topic, using the Post Reply button.
Fun Formatting Tip
To make text bold, enclose it in brackets: [b] [/b]. For example,
“This is [b] great! [/b]” ..... would appear in a post as: “This is great!”
Do the same with italics [i] or underline [u], or combine them.
Note: It is not necessary to use the [url] tag for links. Simply typing the URL (www. ____) will link it.
Heads-up: If you forget to include the slash [/] at the end of enclosed text, the tags will appear in your message!
B. TO EDIT YOUR POST
- If you haven’t already done so, log in, then click Board Index. Click on the forum you’re interested in, then click on your previously posted topic.
- Scroll down and click Edit. (You may edit only your own posts.)
- Make desired changes, then scroll down and click Preview to possibly edit the post, or Submit to finalize it.
C. TO DELETE YOUR POST
- Follow steps 1 and 2 above. Then, at the top of the page, you’ll see a heading Edit Posts.
- Below it, select the Delete Post box (you may delete only your own posts). A post can’t be recovered once deleted, and—unless you are a board administrator—you can’t delete your post after someone has replied.
D. TO LOCATE MEMBERS’ POSTS (AND YOUR OWN)
Find your posts:
- After logging in, click View Your Posts near top right of any page.
- On the page that appears next (your posts), type in key words in the Search box at top. Click GO.
- The forums/topics containing your posts will appear. Click on any to view them.
To find all of the attachments you’ve posted: Click the User Control Panel at top of any page, then click on Manage Attachments in the left column. Your list will be there!
Find another member’s posts:
- After logging in, click Members at the top of any page.
- Click on the name of a member, which will bring up a Viewing Profile for that member.
- In User Statistics section (right side of page), scroll down and click on Search User’s Posts (under Total posts).
- Click on any posts to view them.
